New, OFFICIAL Toastmasters International Group on LinkedIn!!

Monday, July 7th, 2008

For the past year, the LinkedIn group for Toastmasters has been entirely volunteer-driven. A group of three volunteers have been keeping it alive and screening all applicants. Toastmasters International has seen the success and growth of the group, and they decided that they want to take it over and make it an official part of Toastmasters International!

As volunteer moderators, we have been thrilled to see the group grow. The group grew from just a handful of people to almost 900 members in under a year. It is great to hear that Toastmasters International can now officially verify all members of the group, and make sure that it is 100% composed of current and former members.

A Few Steps for Members of the Unofficial Toastmasters Group

The unofficial Toastmasters International group is now in the process of folding. Everyone should transfer over to the new, official group. We will not be approving any new members to the old group.

The steps are easy. Just click this link:

Toastmasters International has already screened and pre-approved all former members. You should be admitted as a member immediately. You may even have gotten an e-mail asking you to join the new group. We are trying to make the transition as easy as possible. If there is any problem, contact the moderator of the new group; you will get their e-mail address as part of the invitation process.

A Few Final Words

I am a little sorry to be giving up my role as moderator of the group, but I do not plan to fade away. This web site will continue to promote on-line networking outlets for Toastmasters, and perhaps we can focus more on generating articles, how-to materials, and other promotional guides to encourage more Toastmasters to join us on-line.

Thanks to all of you for participating, and thanks especially to Laurent and Karen for serving as co-moderators!

Long live the new, official Toastmasters Internation Members group on LinkedIn!
